2023 Australian Grand Prix Debrief

It saw two stunning races, with the win going to Max Verstappen in the first and Lewis Hamilton in the second, making it one of the most exciting weekends in recent times.

Formula One came back with its thrills and spills for its third race weekend of the season, dubbed the F1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2023. The event was held on the second of April at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Australian Grand Prix set a new attendance record at the circuit for the weekend, with 444,631 attending, making it the most-attended sporting event ever in Melbourne.


The event had the highest attendance numbers since 440,000 were recorded at the 2022 United States Grand Prix. The Grand Prix broke the record for most red flags with 3. The Red Bull Racing team continued with its dominance as it had a 1-2 lead yet again. 

Max Verstappen comfortably sat at the pole position while his teammate Sergio Perez won the fastest lap on lap 53 at 1:20.235 which was a lap record. Max Verstappen survived a chaotic race to emerge as the winner of the Grand Prix ahead of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton as well as Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso.
