F1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2023

Drivers and teams put their best foot forward as they competed in the season-opening race, with many expecting to set the pace for the rest of the season.

F1`s first race weekend kicked off at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain, with the event being officially dubbed the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2023. The event was held on March 5, 2023.

The event saw a total of 57 laps completed, with Red Bull dominating all 57 laps, Max Verstappen leading 54 laps, and Sergio Perez leading three laps out of the 57. Max Verstappen dominated the opening race of the 2023 Formula One season in Bahrain as Fernando Alonso rolled back the years to secure a remarkable podium finish on his Aston Martin debut.

Alonso finished in third place, his first podium since the 2021 Qatar Grand Prix and Aston Martin’s first since the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Alonso managed to overtake a number of drivers, including the likes of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton as well as Carlos Sainz Jr. Zhou Guanyu pitted on the penultimate lap for soft tyres and set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap.

Max Verstappen of Oracle Red Bull Racing occupied the pole position.
