Honda and Ford to be Engine Suppliers from 2026-2030

Amid Ford's comeback, Ford is registered as a power unit manufacturer alongside Honda, along with four others.

Amid the new F1 regulations imposed by the governing body FIA, Honda as well as Ford have been officially signed in as Engine suppliers for the 2026 edition of the racing sport and beyond. This comes after Ford have declared their comeback to the grid and that they will be partnering with the Red Bull team. As a result of the partnership, Red Bull will be rebranded to Red Bull Ford. The four other engine suppliers will be Ferrari, Alpine, Audi as well as Mercedes.

F1 currently has four engine suppliers. Alfa Romeo is currently powered by Ferrari and, with effect from the 2026 edition, will be powered by Audi. Mercedes provides engine to Ashton Martin, Williams and McLaren, whilst Ferrari provides engine to its own team as well as the Haas team.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem alluded that the six engine suppliers confirmed for the 2026-2030 period is a testament to the strength of the championship and the robust technical regulations that have been diligently created by the FIA in close collaboration with Formula One and the engine suppliers.

“The power unit is at the forefront of technological innovation, making the future of Formula 1 more sustainable while maintaining the spectacular racing. I am grateful for the confidence of world-leading automotive manufacturers demonstrated by their commitment to Formula 1.”

The new F1 regulations which have brought about positive changes mainly to enhance the driver’s experience has contributed towards new manufacturers wanting to get involved in the racing sport. The imposed regulations have resulted in the banning of expensive parts in the racing machines which have expensive manufacturing parts. The introduction of sustainable fuels has also been expected to enhance the experience of the drivers to give spectacular and never been seen performances and in turn a memorable season.
