Lando Norris requests McLaren's Silver and Red

Lando Norris wants to drive the iconic McLaren in the famous combination of Silver and Red.

McLaren Racing Limited is a British motor racing team based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, England. It is now part of the likes of Williams and Ferrari, which are iconic teams but are however facing a dry spell currently.

In 2008, Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula One World Drivers' Champion, took that title from Ferrari’s race winner and home hero Felipe Massa, outrunning Toyota’s Timo Clock at the final corner at Interlagos. The honour was pulled off driving a McLaren MP4-23.

McLaren stuck to that design till in 2013, when they returned to the silver and black of the era before black, silver and red came to the fore. In 2017, McLaren came up with an MCL32. Lando Norris in a conversation with GQ’s Adam Baidawi admitted that McLaren's silver and red triggered his interest in F1 when he was a child and has tried quite a number of times to get Zak Brown, the current team boss, to bring it back.

“This is what got me into F1,” said Norris. “I’ve asked Zak many times to go back to this.”

Norris wants to mimic his fellow countryman Hamilton by being the one who takes McLaren back to the mountaintop of Formula 1. After the 2023 Saudi Arabian GP, Norris and Hamilton went out golfing together, joined by Hamilton's uncle Terry, although it was not planned.

Norris wrote on his Twitch chat, “I was on the range and he rocked up. He was with his uncle or something, and he asked whether I would like to join him.” Both Norris and Hamilton have suffered an unfortunate start to the campaign. Hamilton says he has to prepare to challenge for a record eighth World Championship this season. Commemorate Norris, though, who is yet to score a point this season, the same being true for Oscar Piastri as McLaren pushes to return to its glory days.
